Celebrating 41 Years in 2026!

The Krewe of Dionysus was founded in 1985 by a group of Northshore businessmen with the intention of bringing a family oriented old fashioned Mardi Gras good time to the City of Slidell.

The King of Dionysus is selected by the membership during the annual Coronation Ball. The King then selects his queen and the two reign for a full year. Our King for the 2025-2026 Mardi Gras Season was Clinton H. Sharp, III, joined by his Queen Camryn Elliers.

Acta Non Verba

Our motto is Latin for “Action, Not Words.” It’s both a credo and promise embraced by our membership. Matthew 7:16 begins with, “By their fruit you will know them.” It means that a person’s true character, beliefs, and nature are revealed by their consistent actions and behaviors, not just their words. Members of Dionysus are committed to improving our community through acts of self-sacrifice, volunteerism, and fund-raising. New Women’s Auxiliary!

It is with great excitement that we announce the official formation of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Krewe of Dionysus for the 2026 – 2027 Mardi Gras Season! As the Krewe continues to grow its presence on the Northshore, this new branch will provide a structured way for women to lead, serve, and contribute to the vibrant legacy of Dionysus. This auxiliary isn’t just a supporting cast; it is a vital engine of progress for our Krewe family. LEARN MORE!

This Year’s Parade Theme

2026 Visionaries & Vagabonds

This year’s theme of Visionaries & Vagabonds is a playful, tongue-in-cheek poke at the current polarized nature of our country. It seems like no matter what side of the aisle we’re on, everywhere you look there are plenty of heroes or villians; champions or scoundrels; exemplars or reprobates; and of course, Visionaries or Vagabonds.

We chuckle at the humorous duality that individuals can be seen as both a Visionary or Vagabond depending on an individual’s point of view. Rather than add to the fire, we’re pointing out the ridiculousness of it all, and instead focusing on all the things that we have in common: love for our community; appreciation of our local culture; support of local non-profits and service organizations; enthusiasm for good food, good music, and cold beverages; and our willingness to come together for great times and lots of laughs.
